The Ranger Softball team opened a three game home series against the Crimson Storm looking to extend their two game win streak. Southern Nazarene used a three run sixth inning to seal their 8-5 victory over the Rangers.

Hannah Howell led the Rangers with two hits and two-RBIs in the loss. She was one of two players with two hits along with Laney Anderson and Avery Clark. Ireland Caro started for the Rangers before Allie Hufford and Kameron Ryer closed the game off.

Southern Nazarene jumped out early over the Rangers with five runs in the opening two innings. The Crimson Storm started with two runs in the first after a leadoff double came around to score on an RBI single. The second run came around to score on an error by the Rangers.

Rangers had two runners on following singles by Howell and Anderson but were not able to answer back on the Crimson Storm. In the second inning a single followed by two walks had the bases loaded for the Crimson Storm. After the Ranger defense had a fielder's choice getting an out at the plate the Crimson Storm hit back to back singles to take a 5-0 lead over the Rangers.

Northwestern did not go away quietly after Hufford threw a scoreless third inning Spearman led off with a walk before a Howell two run home run cut the deficit to 5-2. Anderson followed with a solo home run as the Rangers trailed 5-3 after back to back home runs.

Hufford worked around a two out double that pushed runners to second and third but a fly out to center retired that half of the inning. The Rangers loaded the bases in the fourth inning looking to tie the game but a pop up followed by a fielder's choice had the Rangers still trailing.

After a scoreless fifth the teams traded runs with the Crimson Storm out scoring the Rangers by one in the inning. Southern Nazarene started the inning with  a single before a two-run home run gave them a 7-3 lead. The Ranger deficit was extended on a Northwestern error making it 8-3.

With two outs Clark kept the inning alive after a two out single and a walk by Spearman the Rangers scored on a Crimson Storm error and a passed ball now trailing 8-5.
