Chad Newman has been named the Director of Information Technology (IT) at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Newman, who received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science/Agribusiness from OPSU in 1995, has since gained extensive experience in the IT industry.

Newman brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the position. He has spent the last 20 years working in the IT department at Hitch Enterprise.

Vice President of Fiscal Affairs, Liz McMurphy, stated, “Chad’s experience and connection to the community made him the best candidate for the position. We are excited to see our technology across campus grow as the industry constantly changes.”

In this role at OPSU, Newman will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the university's technology infrastructure. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, manage technology projects, and provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students.

Newman's appointment comes at a time when technology plays an increasingly important role in higher education. With the modernization of technology within the classroom and the rise of online learning, universities must be equipped with the latest technology to provide students and faculty with the tools they need to succeed. Newman's experience and expertise will be invaluable as OPSU continues to modernize its technology infrastructure.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Director of IT," he said. "The people at Panhandle State and this opportunity to use my past experience brought me back to my alma mater.”
